Michael O'Connor has more than thirty years experience in the conservation of historic buildings as craftsman, manager and consultant.
Following an initial grounding in engineering, Michael went on to a formal arts education before training as a stonemason at York Minster in the 1970s. Subsequently he worked with the National Trust, English Heritage and on many secular and ecclesiastical monuments and historic architectural sites. For fifteen years he was instrumental in developing the renowned conservation department at Lincoln Cathedral, overseeing a range of prestigious projects before going on to establish a private consulting and contracting business. He graduated in 1998 with a doctorate in the ethical development and methodology of architectural conservation.
